Metabolic Balance Diet Review

We all know that in order to lose weight and to keep it off, that we have to actively change our lifestyle, which largely involves us changing the way in which we eat.  However, this is so much more easily said than done, as we live in a society wherein fast food is the order of the day, and since it is so easy to pick up and so inexpensive, that is what many of us choose to go for.

One way in which to deal with weight loss and eat better is by going the Metabolic Balance Diet route.  Metabolic cooking is said to be a good way in which to aid you in making decisions that are better on your health and to help you lose fat even faster than you used to.

Metabolic cooking was created by the couple and business partners Karine Losier and Dave Ruel.  Ruel is a bodybuilder who wrote a book giving advice on nutrition for those men who wished to lose body fat and gain muscle mass  Having become successful in writing about this, he subsequently wrote a nutritional plan that was geared towards fat loss and this brought about the advent of metabolic cooking.    Losier, who has a masters in Psychology, aided Ruel in his writing about metabolic cooking, and was influential in designing the program so it would also be geared towards women.

There are two major aspects of Metabolic Cooking, they include a nutritional manual that offer usual advice as to how to sustain a diet that is healthy that helps to keep your metabolism high so that your body will be able to quickly burn fat.  The other aspect of the Metabolic Balance Diet involves recipe collections.  This is actually the key aspect of metabolic cooking, and it simplifies the program for the users.  It comprises of more than one hundred and sixty recipes that is inclusive of fish, meat, vegetarian meals, side dishes etc.  There are even wholesome desserts included in this program.

Every single recipe in the Metabolic Balance Diet has thorough directions as well as the number of calories and what nutrients they contain.  They also grade these recipes based on the amount of protein, vegetables and fats that they contain.  They guide you with respect to the amount of nutrient that you should eat per day.  When this is done, you will be able to clearly see how you can make combinations of these meals to eat for the day so that you will feed your body complete meals.

PLEASE HELP!!! Won’t stop gaining weight–dangerously close to being bulimic again!!!?

April 24th, 2012 · Metabolic Balance Diet FAQ

Question: PLEASE HELP!!! Won’t stop gaining weight–dangerously close to being bulimic again!!!?
I’m a 22 yr old male whos recovering from an 8-month bout w/bulimia this past year. I’ve had 4 other eating disorders since i was 10 and have struggled w/weight issues my whole life (either overweight/underweight, etc). When I started being bulimic I went from my normal size (5″5, 134-136 lbs) to 145 lbs and since i stopped it a couple mos ago i’ve put on an extra 10-12 lbs. I’ve been seeing a nutritionist to help me start eating healthy again and take care of my weight issues but no matter how hard i try to eat a balanced diet or get a moderate amt of exercise my weight keeps going up again. It’s gotten even worse since I suddenly went off my antidepressant (effexor) and i’ve been putting on even more weight (im up to 162 now). This makes absolutely no sense because I know for sure i haven’t been eating more than 1900-2200 calories per day and its been making me even more depressed.
At this point I know something is insanely off with my body besides having a poor self-image and a tendency to starve/binge/purge because it seems to want to put on more weight no matter what i do–could it be due to the fact that I’ve totally wrecked my body beyond repair from all those years of binge eating, anorexia, and bulimia OR could i be having thyroid or metabolic issues from all of it too? I know it can’t have too much to do w/being on an antidepressant because i’ve been taking it for less than a month, the only thing i can think of there would be the sudden withdrawal. Am I doing something wrong or am I hopelessly screwed and doomed to a life of endless weight gain and more eating disorders at this point?
I know this sounds like I’m spazzing out and I know I have a really unhealthy obsession w/my body-image but I don’t think that’d be the case anymore if I could just get back into/stay in good shape and enjoy food/exercise like everyone else w/out turning it into a do-or-die situation and freaking out over every little calorie. Right now its taking all my willpower not to go back to binging or starving myself and if I get another eating disorder again then its all over…
I’m hanging on for dear life rite now, so if anyone could please give me any answers as to whats wrong and why I can’t seem to lose any weight in a healthy way (or maintain a stable/healthy one) I’d really appreciate it…I’m seriously at the end of my rope…

Please try to stay calm. I know exactly where you’re coming from. I’m in recovery as well, so I totally feel you.

As with recovery from any eating disorder, sometimes it takes a while for the metabolism to readjust. Oftentimes, the metabolism slows, making weight gain easier. But resuming a normal diet and exercise program is the key to staying on track.

Have you alked to a nutritionist? When I was released from treatment, I began to see an outpatient nutritionist who helps me plan out my meals. Also, try to locate an eating disorders specialist physician who can help answer your specific questions about weight gain and loss.

You mentioned an antidepressant-some antidepressants can result in an increased appetite or even water retention, so this is a possible cause.

Please try to stay on track. You’re not alone.

Can a “crash diet” be beneficial, or at least not unhealthy, if…?

April 24th, 2012 · Metabolic Balance Diet FAQ

Question: Can a “crash diet” be beneficial, or at least not unhealthy, if…?
…after the desired weight is lost, one eases back into normal eating habits (that is to say, the amount of calories per day required to balance out the number burned) gradually?

I know that crash diets (dramatically reducing food intake in order to lose weight quickly) are regarded as unhealthy, and from what I’ve gathered, this is for two reasons:
(1) You can’t possibly get all of the nutrients your body requires on only 500-1000 calories per day.
(2) Eating little slows down [...] Continue Reading…

Can anyone help my diet?

April 24th, 2012 · Metabolic Balance Diet FAQ

Question: Can anyone help my diet?
I weigh 248 pounds, and I have been working out lifting weights and doing cardio 5 days a week. I’ve been on a 2200 calorie diet and seem to have hit a plateau in muscle growth and fat loss. I think I am eating too little!!!

I think my body is going in starvation mode with me only eating 2200 calories, I calculated my daily needs as being actually 3500 calories since I am moderately active, but I want to use a 20% calorie reduction, so I want a daily target of 2700 to 2800 [...] Continue Reading…

I’m about to start the lemonade diet, but I want to eat veggies while on it, what veggies are best to eat?

April 24th, 2012 · Metabolic Balance Diet FAQ

Question: I’m about to start the lemonade diet, but I want to eat veggies while on it, what veggies are best to eat?
it is a 10-day fast where you drink nothing but a special “lemonade” drink. It is one of the best known methods for cleaning out your intestinal and colon walls. Although not intended as a weight-loss diet, it is effective at helping you balance your body and “rebooting” the metabolic process – which often results in weight loss

For at least 10 days, drink around 10 servings/day of the following:
2 Tablespoons (1 fluid ounce) fresh-squeezed lemon or lime [...] Continue Reading…

Is the sauna good for general body maintenance?

April 24th, 2012 · Metabolic Balance Diet FAQ

Question: Is the sauna good for general body maintenance?
Hey guys, at the moment I am going to the gym and doing weight training regularly, eating the right high-protein foods in six meals a day. I plan to finish this “bodybuilding” around October.
I was told not to use the sauna after a workout as it dehydrates you. Ok I understand this, but doesn’t the relaxation help build muscle?
I plan to “cut” after this “bodybuilding” (to get down to single digit bodyfat) by reducing carbs and increasing cardio- is a sauna after a workout bad for fat-burning as it decreases resting metabolic [...] Continue Reading…
